Mitsubishi ahead to reveal plansLater this month the plug-in hybrid, the brand, meanwhile decided to rip the sheet. On Thursday, the company revealed the design of the SUV, confirming that it will share its look with the latest Outlander, without hybrid gear. That’s not a bad thing, as the new SUV is actually quite beautiful.
Really, the only thing that gives the PHEV away is some unique badging on the door, and wherever Mitsu affixed the charging port on the vehicle. Apart from this, the SUV retains the company’s latest “Bold Stride” design ethos which consists of a large front grille and swoops. The interior still looks absolutely lovely, with contrasting stitch patterns, soft materials and lots of premium touch points.
Now that we’ve looked at that, the big question remains the powertrain and what kind of range are we looking at.Comes with 2.4-litre inline-four engine and two electric motors. A 13.8 kilowatt-hour battery provides the electric motor juice. In all, there is 221 horsepower on tap and the SUV can go up to 24 miles on battery power alone. Mitsubishi has said in the past that this new SUV will be a . will come with , so expect the range figure to tick upward.
We’ll see this SUV in full on October 28, before it goes on sale first in Japan in December, and then in the US by the middle of next year.
