Ahmaud Arbery’s family reacts to guilty verdict

Ahmaud Arbery’s parents, Marcus Arbery and Wanda Cooper-Jones, on Wednesday celebrated the jury’s decision finding three of their son’s murderers guilty of murder.

What are they saying: “We conquered that lynch mob. We got that lynch mob,” said Marcus Arbery. “We don’t want anyone to go through this. I don’t want any dad to beat his kid to death.”

  • He said, “This is all our problem. So let’s keep fighting. Let’s keep doing it and make it a better place for all human beings.”

“It’s been a long battle. It has been an uphill battle. But God is good,” Cooper-Jones said.

  • “Frankly, I never saw this day in 2020. I never thought this day would come. But god is good… now, cuz you know him as Ahmed, cuz I know him As I know, he shall now rest in peace.”

Running news: It took the jury about 11 hours to deliver the verdict. The killers – Travis McMichael, Gregory McMichael and William “Roddy” Bryan – were all found guilty of murder.

  • Of the 27 charges against McMichaels and Bryan, only four were not guilty.
