What just happened? Do you endlessly browse the seemingly unlimited amount of streaming content available today and can’t decide what to watch before bed? Amazon has an app that can solve your puzzle in a fun way, though it’s only available to Fire TV owners in the US – at least for now.
freedom IMDb What to see the app on Fire TV turns the often arduous task of finding and deciding what to watch into three mini-games that will recommend movies and TV shows across multiple streaming services.
The first game, Quick Draw, is the easiest and fastest way to decide what to watch. It sorts through virtual playing cards and selects three movie/TV show options for users to choose from. Whether people will keep hitting the “deal card” button until they find something that interests them remains to be seen.
Second Watch Challenge game. It asks users to go through curated lists of titles from IMDb, including a list of the top 250 films, award-winning titles, and popular franchises, to collect digital stamps. You can also rate suggested entries. Amazon says the subject listings will be updated frequently.
The last and perhaps the best game is This or That. It asks users a set of questions to determine the perfect movie or series based on their mood, be it horror, melodrama, comedy, etc.
All recommended titles will be accompanied by IMDb ratings to help users decide if they are worth watching, and titles available on certain streaming services can be prioritized – the recommendations show detailed information on where content can be streamed.
Amazon says it will be adding new games to the app, including Build-a-Cast and Time Machine, which can be downloaded from the Fire TV app store or by asking Alexa to “open the IMDb What to Watch app.” We hope Amazon makes it more available at some point in the future.
