Forget emergency meetings and deception. What if the ultimate winner of ‘Interstellar Terror Between Us’ was decided with a good old-fashioned punch-up?

Enter Us Arena, a fan-made spin-off that pits colorful crews against each other in a traditional Street Fighter-esque brawl. Your character roster is, predictably, a palette of crewmates — and while they all share one trick, it delivers some shockingly smooth and satisfying brawls.

There’s an incredible amount of polish to Arena. Developer Starcutter matches the look of Innersloth’s extraordinarily popular deduction game perfectly, and if you told me it was an official spin-off, I’d believe you. The kill animation from the original game has been reimagined as a traditional fighting game tool—especially when you sprout those massive, uncomfortably detailed hands when you launch the grab.

But with regular fighting games putting Arena through its paces at Riptide this weekend, it’s also a solid proof of concept for the developer’s own, as-yet-unannounced fighting game project. Arena also has elementary online matchmaking, though you’ll need to download the same regional build you want to play with.

Starcutter believes it will soon be ready to show footage of its “real” fighting game, for it to be donated to Arena. Among Us Arena is free to download
