Announced in 2019, Analog Pocket is a new video game system made by the Analog Company. One of the highlights of the device is the ability to play all kinds of games from classic portable systems, such as the Game Boy collection of handhelds, the Game Gear, and more. Plus, it does it all by way of running the original cartridge from these retro consoles without the need for any emulation.

Recently, it was revealed that players can expect their pre-orders for the Analog Pocket very soon. In an update to Analog, it announced that pre-ordered systems will start shipping on December 13th. For those unable to receive their shipments during the holiday season, the company provided an alternative shipping option. Based on information from Analog, customers can request a hold on their order if they are unable to claim the package during the first wave of shipments. The company said that those who have placed a hold on their order will see their analog pocket ship on January 3, 2022. In addition to details on shipping dates, the company’s update revealed that November 28 was the last day to make changes to an order.

The news comes as Analog Pocket has been delayed several times before. Actually, since the announcement, the company has postponed the release date thrice. One reason for these delays was the pandemic that affected the video game industry throughout 2020 and 2021. According to Analog, the postponement was due to the lack of computer chips associated with COVID-19.

The announcement of a shipping date for Analog Pocket is undoubtedly exciting news for those who want to check out a system capable of playing retro games. This news puts it a step ahead of other gaming machines planned for release in the future. New Steam decks and playdates, a couple of upcoming game systems, have been pushed back to 2022. When Analog Pocket releases next month, it will be interesting to see if the gameplay was worth the long wait.
