Apex Legends Launched back in 2019, and since then, Wraith has been one of the best Legends in Battle Royale. Because of the Wraith’s powerful set of abilities, he is a popular pick for many different team compositions. Despite his effectiveness in combat, some players still believe that his abilities can be improved.
Described as an inter-dimensional skirmish, Wraith has the power to jump between dimensions during a fight. While Respawn has shut down Legend several times since launch, he still has an effective set of abilities that players can use in combat. His tactical, Into the Void, allows him to swoop down enemies without doing damage for a short period of time, while his ultimate, Dimensional Rift, gives him the opportunity to switch teammates using a portal. While these abilities make Wraith great for both offensive and defensive scenarios, some players feel that the developers are missing out on the opportunity to make him more effective in passive, void of voices, fights.
Recently, a Twitter user known as ThatOneApexBot came up with an idea to buffer the idle potential of the Wraith. Currently, Voice from the Void alerts Wraith players via a voice line when enemies are targeting them. However, a Twitter user believes the ability is mostly useless, as audible warnings fail to provide visual feedback as to the enemy’s direction. He suggested that Respawn should add some kind of flash to the corner of the screen from the direction the off-screen enemy is aiming at the player.
ThatOneApexBot got inspiration from a gameplay mechanic for potential buffs call of Duty Modern Warfare. Known as High Alert, this benefit from Military Shooter gives players better awareness on the battlefield. When High Alert is activated, a yellow outline appears on the player’s screen when an opponent targets them beyond their field of view.
It will be interesting to see if this advantage is optimized for Apex Legends, as it will give Wraith players more information about the direction in which an enemy team can attack. In addition, the latest Legend in the game Seer already has similar abilities. His passive, Heart Seeker, provides a visual indicator when targeting sights that match the enemy’s movement and off-screen position of bullets.
It will be interesting to see if this fondness for the Wraith eventually makes it into the game. Respawn is no stranger to listening to fan suggestions, as they regularly make balance changes in battle royale. Recently, the developers announced news about a new patch coming to the game that looks to nerf the defensive legend Rampart as well as Daredevil Octane. So it will be interesting to see if they draw inspiration from this suggestion.
