it’s part of the storyOur full coverage of the latest Apple news.
The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399 and is coming later in the fall. was announced onon Tuesday. But the changes don’t seem as dramatic. It has a bigger display with thinner bezels, a faster-charging battery that promises 8 hours of use after 8 minutes of charging, and a more crack-resistant front crystal. But battery life – 18 hours – is pretty much the same as last year’s watch.
There are also new colors for the aluminum case: Blue, Green, Midnight (black), Starlight (a gold-silver mix), and Product Red. You can add even more expensive upgrades to the steel and titanium-cased versions.
Apple looks like it’s following the rest of the watch design, quite the contraryExtensively modified flat design. For anyone hoping for a whole new watch (as I was), the seemingly small updates feel like a disappointment. But Apple has made small changes to the previous Apple Watches year after year. The only thing really new about last year Estimated blood was the addition of oxygen.
This year, updates are also rare, and it looks no different from a casual distance. The promises of better durability and faster charging seem useful, though probably not enough for most to consider an upgrade from the more recent model.
a big show
The larger screen should allow for a more readable and detailed watch face, notifications and apps, much like the Series 4few years ago. Apple says it’s 20% bigger than the Series 6, and 50% bigger than the Series 3. The buttons on the display are larger, and Apple says 50% more text can be fitted on the screen, while the display is 70% brighter indoors. Always on mode. (In addition to the scribble and dictation options, a new on-screen full keyboard will now pop up for entering text.)
The display is now curved at the corners, with the case wrapping around a bit. I haven’t seen it in person yet, but I did look at a 3D model in AR and it shows subtle effects from the side.
There are also new watch faces: a revamped modular watch face and a number-warping watch face with digits surrounding the curved edge. But still no way to get new watch faces, although Apple’s watch face has a lot in common .
promises of better durability
The Watch 7 has an IP6X rating, which is new and promises better dust-resistance. The curved crystal is also 50% thicker, according to Apple, which should lead to less cracking. But we haven’t tested it yet, and don’t know how durable it really is yet (and won’t know until later when the watch arrives). The watch has 50 meters of water resistance, similar to recent previous models for swimming in fresh water, pool or ocean.
Faster charging, but not better battery life
Apple is touting the fast-charging features on the Watch 7, promising 8 hours of battery life on 8 minutes of charging. This is helpful, especially if you forgot to charge the watch the night before (or for people wearing an Apple Watch for sleep tracking), but overall battery life for the watch remains the same. Expect about a day and a half of usage based on my past experience.
no new health facilities
However, no new health features or sensors are missing. Samsung’s latestand last year It started offering new health sensors like body analysis and electrodermal activity, but Apple hasn’t introduced anything new on the Series 7 health-wise over the past year. Also absent is any improvement in battery life or a .
Pricing Level TBD
The Apple Watch Series 7 starts at $399, but we don’t know the different sizes, LTE-ready models, or prices for the different materials. However, as with previous Apple watches, the prices are expected to rise.
watchOS 8 Apple Watch Series 7. coming from
AppleIt should be here on September 20th, which includes new cycling features, a redesigned mindfulness app, and Wallet app upgrades. Those updates might be enough for existing Apple Watch owners, and they won’t need to upgrade their watches at all.
Apple’s Watch lineup continues to become more successful, especially as wearable competitors consolidate. Apple, launched late last year, requires a Watch to take advantage of its video workouts. Apple announced a new Even in today’s program.
Last yearIt sought to be a more affordable Apple Watch, but its $279 starting price was still well above budget fitness trackers from companies like Fitbit. This year, the Watch SE and Series 3 remain on sale, with the SE still at $279 (£269, AU$429) and the Series 3 at $199 (£199, AU$299). International prices for the Series 7 were not announced.
