Developers of autonomous vehicles have long promised that the technology will fundamentally change the way people, cargo, and cargo move around the world.
But will these robot taxis, self-driving trucks and delivery robots be good citizens in the cities they operate in? And what does a “good AV citizen” look like in general?
We’ve invited three experts to our stage to take a look at this complex topic and talk about how design, autonomous vehicle driving, and a developer’s approach to operation can impact the affordability, fairness, safety, and usability of AV.
We are pleased to announce that Argo AI Director of Corporate Responsibility Summer Fowler, Riccardo Giraldi, Senior Director of Zoox, and Alisyn Malek, Executive Director of Coalition for Reimagined Mobility, join us at TC Sessions: Mobility 2022 May 18 and 19 in San Mateo, California.
This panel discussion will address issues such as inclusive product design for physical accessibility and operational equity to ensure both private and public AV is accessible across all communities.
Good AV citizenship also means a vehicle that interacts safely with the cyclists, pedestrians, and people-driven vehicles it encounters every day.
We will consider the challenges associated with achieving these goals.
Fowler and her team are responsible for community engagement, workforce development, environmental sustainability, philanthropy and volunteerism. She is also committed to diversity, fairness and inclusion, and is committed to ensuring that Argo AI remains committed to and accountable for the social and environmental impacts of its operations.
Prior to joining Argo, Fowler served as CTO of Cybersecurity Risk and Resilience at CERT’s Cybersecurity Division at Carnegie Mellon University, as a Technical Associate at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, and as a Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman.
Giraldi leads the Zoox Experience team to define the future of autonomous mobility and develop unparalleled experiences for commuters and cities. Prior to joining Zoox, Giraldi worked at Microsoft, leading product innovation incubation including Microsoft HoloLens, mixed reality apps, and Surface devices.
It focuses on developing our relationship with technology to invent and develop innovative solutions to help improve people’s lives and accelerate our progress towards a more sustainable future.
Malek, a changemaker in the mobility and automotive sectors, has led organizations, raised investments and developed products. It focuses on building consensus among car manufacturers, global mobility players and regulators in advancing mobility policy.
From EV product development, corporate venture and strategy at General Motors to developing a first-of-its-kind self-driving vehicle transportation solution as co-founder and COO Mobility in MayMalek has a deep understanding of the automotive and emerging transportation industries.
Join Argo AI’s Summer Fowler, Zoox’s Riccardo Giraldi, and Reimagined Mobility’s Alysine Malek for what promises to be an exciting conversation about building AV for all through accessibility, equity, and inclusion.
