Gamers may have heard of GDQ under the names Summer Games Done Quick or Awesome Games Done Quick, often referred to by abbreviations thereof. The event is held annually and was held at various locations as a live, in-person event prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, while GDQ faces the same kinds of challenges that all other individual events do this year, Awesome Games Done Quick has made the necessary arrangements to move forward this week.

This year’s AGDQ began today, January 9, as a completely virtual experience to accommodate the COVID-19 pandemic. This preventive measure ensures that any interested parties are as safe as possible while still attending or watching the event, which is now live for anyone to view and donate. AGDQ then provides a venue for Speedrunners to showcase their expertise in front of a live audience and a worldwide crowd of fans watching online from afar, while donations go toward cancer prevention and research.

At the time of this writing, AGDQ 2022 is well into its first day of scheduled motion. The AGDQ 2022 schedule local time highlights that fans can expect to see some motion, so it’s not imperative to stay up all day if fans are otherwise busy. Which games will be run and by whom are listed, as well as the time taken for each run to be completed. Many hosts break the intermission and also repeat the day’s events closer to the end of each scheduled day.

Virtual viewers can look forward to several generous dynamics throughout the week at AGDQ, such as a “Fresh File Any%” run returnal Cave Cave by Cave, an “race of all bosses” dark Souls Between Danflesh and Regole, and “Blindfolded Any%” run off Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice by Mikriz.

The event is available for fans to watch directly through the Games Done Quick website from today through Saturday, January 15. Otherwise, fans can choose to watch the event on Twitch. Either way, the GDQ, and its associated speedruns, go towards a great cause in cancer prevention and should make for an entertaining week that’s abundant with interesting runs.
