In early September, Blizzard announced that the 2022 season of the Overwatch League would be played alongside the initial builds of Overwatch 2. This was an unexpected announcement for a few reasons, not the least of which is that we don’t really know much about Overwatch. 2. Blizzard revealed some major changes to its PvP format earlier this year, but much of it (including the release date) is still in the shadows.
That will change somewhat soon: Blizzard announced today that we’ll be taking a closer look at what’s coming to Overwatch 2 on September 24 during the preshow and halftime event at the 2021 Overwatch League Grand Finals.

Presentations will include a look at character updates coming to Bastion and Sombra, how Bastian’s new look “adds to Overwatch 2’s design philosophy” and the highlight of the night, an Overwatch 2 exhibition match played by Overwatch League professionals.
Speaking of Bastion’s new look, here it is close. He’s got a new hat!
Bastion’s lid is the same one worn by Torbjorn in his “ironclad” skin, which bears the logo of the Ironclad Guild, an R&D group formed before Omnic Crisis. Bastion Passive, which reduces damage dealt to sentry or tank configuration by 20%, is also called Ironclad. Is this a sign of some deeper changes to the character (it’s not yet clear whether Bastion will still have his sentry config, which isn’t particularly effective in higher level play in Overwatch 2) or just a cute The accessory is not known at this point.
The resale of the Sombra is more than a mystery. The protagonist has gone through some significant changes over the years, including a rework that made his Invisibility Unlimited, but it’s unclear what Blizzard is planning for him in a sequel.
