meet, Bluelandfresh fundraiser of $20 million back in February, mainly focuses on home cleaning products. Today, an innovative cleaning company is releasing a new product to help keep you as clean as your home, adhering to the same “Hey, let’s not send water if we can avoid it” model as its household cleaner.
The brand launches a reusable shower gel. This is a gel cleanser in powder form. On your first order, you can get a bottle of Forever along with a sachet of powder. Add it to water and shake it, leave it for an hour or so to “activate” and it’s ready to go – all without plastic waste and without having to spend extra resources to get water from the manufacturer to your door.
The company states that its product is “formulated for people and the planet using only natural and safe ingredients such as oats, vitamin E, vitamin B, kaolin clay and coconut acid.” Further reinforcing its environmental credibility, it is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, aluminum and silicone, and contains no dyes or petroleum-based ingredients.
Blueland’s mission is to continue to reduce our dependence on plastic; That’s a good thing too: packaging is the largest source (46%) of all plastic waste, and the personal care industry is among the largest producers, creating more than 120 billion units of packaging every year worldwide. By reusing just 10% of these products, we could prevent almost half of the annual plastic waste in the ocean.
“After conducting research to understand which products will allow us to make the biggest impact on waste prevention, body washes have risen to number one,” says co-founder and CEO Sarah Paiji Yu. “Given the frequency and area of coverage for body washes, we tend to get through it faster. Working with one of the most popular and bulky products meant that we would be able to maximize the impact of reducing the use of single-use plastic with just one product.”
Blueland Shower Gel is available in three fragrances: Raspberry Hibiscus, Waterlily Dew and Sandalwood Sage.
The Body Wash Starter Kit retails for $18 and includes a refillable Forever bottle and powder refill pack containing 18 ounces of Body Wash Gel; additional refill packs start at $9.
