Rising cover artist Bjorn Berends has drawn Batman, Wonder Woman, and Captain America — or at least kids wearing the heroes’ Halloween costumes — in not one but one two Image Comics variant cover. October 20’s King Spawn #3 and October 27th’s Spawn #323 will feature both types of covers featuring superhero-dressed kids trick-or-treating in the house of Billy Kincaid (aka The Ice Cream Man) and the other in Violator’s House. .

Check them out here:

“Since Halloween is such a great holiday, I sent the kids not only to ring the bell at the Joker’s house, but also to Billy Kincaid’s house to get me some candy,” Berends writes on Instagram.

It is especially scary to see the children at Kincaid’s door, as in the spawn comics he is not only a supervillain, but he also specializes in kidnapping and killing children.

“Just in time for Halloween!” MacFarlane Tweets. “What is this cover nightmares Made of him!”

While these covers are suggestive, it does not appear that they hint at a larger story in King Spawn or the main Spawn book. Throwing in these thinly-veiled versions of DC and Marvel heroes, it appears to be a fun setting for a different cover – something MacFarlane’s Spawn Comics have done in the past.

King Spawn #3 will go on sale on October 20, while Spawn #323 will go on sale on October 27.
