A Deathloop PS4 version is being listed on the PlayStation Store, but that doesn’t mean you can actually play it on that console.
As seen on twitter By Chandler Wood, Editor-in-Chief of PlayStation Lifestyle, playstation store listing For Deathloop Deluxe Edition is currently tagged for both PS5 and PS4, while the Standard Edition only has the correct listing for PS5. Sony doesn’t seem to have an example of locking cross-gen upgrades behind special editions (as it recently decided No to do with Horizon Forbidden West) but instead a simple mix with store listings, one of the bullet points of the deluxe edition’s de facto description in particular is still “designed for PS5”.
It’s possible that the Deathloop PS4 version will arrive sometime after launch, though it will run counter to Sony’s latest positioning of Arkane as one of the system’s biggest third-party exclusives. to console Exclusive, that is, since Deathloop is also coming to PC.
The Deathloop Xbox Series X Edition is dropping almost a year from now, compared to the Deathloop PS4, which is due shortly after launch. Developer Arkane Studios was part of Microsoft’s larger Bethesda buyout, which makes it prime porting content to Deathloop after a potentially time-limited exclusivity agreement with Sony expires.
Meanwhile, the voice actor The hero of Deathloop wants to score PS5 so that he can play the game on his own time; At least you know you’re in good company if you’re still trying to find PS5 stock again.
