According to Diverse reports, the cast and crew on the upcoming Marvel sequel have been brought back to work on both “reshoots” and “additional photography” six days a week until the end of the year.

It is not yet clear whether additional filming schedules have been implemented to include rewritten scenes from the film, although most sources say seem to agree that reshoots are simply the result of limited actor availability during the initial filming period.

What will Doctor Strange 2 be about?

As for the plot of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we know the film will primarily concern, well… the multiverse.

The details are few and far between, but we’re hoping Stephen Strange will be forced to face the consequences of creating the multiverse in the first place — if Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s first teaser trailer Anything to go, ie. We can get to know more on that front when the second trailer for No Way Home arrives in the very near future as well.

We also know that Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor will all reprise their roles from the first film, while Xochital Gomez is the only announced newcomer so far. She will star as America Chavez, also known by the pseudonym Miss America.

In the comics, Chavez comes from the Utopian Parallel, a dimension that exists outside of space and time for the Marvel Multiverse. When a utopian parallel is threatened by a black hole that will pull it in different directions across the multiverse, Chavez’s mothers Amalia and Elena sacrifice themselves to prevent that from happening.

The only survivor of her race, Chavez uses her abilities to open an inter-dimensional portal to find a new home – taking her to Earth (and therefore, we assume, Stephen Strange).

We don’t know whether Chavez’s comic origins will carry over into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, or if he’ll be presented in a different way. But it will still be exciting to see one of Marvel’s popular heroes make their live-action debut.

We may have even got our first look at the sequel’s villain, thanks to some revealing merchandise — but we’ll avoid potential spoilers for now. If you’re interested in finding out who that villain could be, check out our report on leaks,

Beyond those bits of information, though, we’re still relatively in the dark about where Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will take the ever-expanding MCU. However, one thing is certain – this movie will have big consequences for the future of the franchise.
