Netflix’s Don’t Look Up — a movie about a killer comet — certainly has a lot of stars. Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio (as astronomers) headline a dream team with everyone from Tyler Perry to Ron Perlman to Dune’s Timothée Chalamet, who loves space-related projects.
While real scientists are working hard for, director and writer Adam McKay (Anchorman and the Big Short) thought it would be fun to imagine humanity’s reaction to the impending doomsday comet. that response? A big hug.
The full trailer adds a lot to what it was, “Based on real events that haven’t happened yet,” promises the trailer. Meryl Streep appears as the sacked US President, Jonah Hill as his son and Chief of Staff. It also includes a scene that looks like a NASA spacecraft being destroyed in space.
Leo and J-Law must deal with spilling the disaster news onto an unsuspecting and largely reckless public. The long cast list also includes Rob Morgan, Michael Chiklis, Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) and Himesh Patel.
Don’t Look Up arrives on Netflix on December 24, adding to the holiday season comic disaster.
