DoorDash announced today it is expanding its courier gas reward program on its platform. The program allows deliveries using their DasherDirect card to receive 10% cash on their gasoline purchases anywhere in the US. Last month, the company announced a rewards program to offset rising gas prices. The program was originally supposed to run until April, but has now been extended until the end of August.
The company says that since the launch of the program, couriers on the platform have saved an average of $0.42 per gallon on each visit. DoorDash also reports that every hour more than 8600 couriers use their Dasher Direct cards to save 10% cashback. In addition, DoorDash notes that couriers have used the 10% cashback through DasherDirect in more than 8 million transactions. for refills.
DoorDash says it will continue to monitor gas prices during the summer months and listen to feedback from its courier community on its programs.
Over the past few months, the company has optimized its platform and added new features for consumers. Most recently DoorDash introduced a new subscription a plan for college students called “DashPass for Students” that costs $4.99 per month, which is half the cost of a standard monthly DashPass subscription.
