Elon Musk pulls out of deal to buy Twitter

Billionaire Elon Musk canceled a deal to buy the social network Twitter, according to a filing Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Skadden Arps attorney Mike Ringler said in a letter to Twitter’s chief legal officer that “Twitter failed to honor its contractual obligations.” For almost two months, the company was unable to provide Musk with information about fake or spam accounts, the letter said.

Twitter has accepted a $44 billion offer from Tesla billionaire Elon Musk, who says he wants to lift a permanent ban on the social media platform.
