Elon Musk’s 18-year-old daughter changed her name and gender in California.
Judge Raphael Ongkeko approved Vivian Jenna Wilson’s petition Wednesday at a Santa Monica courthouse after no one objected to the changes, the Associated Press reported. reported Thursday.
Wilson, whose father is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court on April 18.
According to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica, obtained by USA TODAY, Wilson cited gender identity and a clear dislike of Musk as the reason for the name change.
“I no longer live with my biological father and do not want to have any relationship with him in any form,” Wilson wrote in a petition filed April 18.
The court order states that a new birth certificate will be issued reflecting the change.
The name change hearing was originally scheduled for Friday. It was reported by USA TODAY earlier this week.

Wilson’s previous name, as reflected on her birth certificate, was Xavier Alexander Musk. Wilson’s mother is Justine Wilson, who divorced Musk in 2008. Musk had six children with a Canadian writer.
Musk is currently trying to take over the social network Twitter for $44 billion. His comments about transgender people sparked controversy in 2020 when he tweeted: “I absolutely support transgender people, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare.”
