Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Release date: March 2022

Doctor Strange 2 is scheduled to launch on March 25, 2022. The superhero film was supposed to release on May 7, 2021, but its development has been hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the cast and crew unable to begin filming until November 2020, its release date was pushed back to November 2021. That launch was delayed a second time to March 2022, however, so principal photography could have been completed and post-production done with enough time.

According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, the final week of filming took place in mid-April., so production is now wrapped. The film may be shot again in future if needed, but for now, the film is in its post-production stage.

not now. This is not surprising to anyone, as the editing process has not started. We will update this page once the teaser trailer is out online.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Cast: Who’s Playing Who?

Spoilers for Doctor Strange and WandaVision follow.

At the moment, we have six confirmed cast members:

  • Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange
  • Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch
  • Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo
  • Benedict Wong as Wong
  • Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer
  • America Chavez as Xochitl Gomez

Cumberbatch, Ejiofor, Wong and McAdams are all reprising their roles from the first film. Cumberbatch and Wong were last seen in Avengers: Endgame as Strange and Wong, respectively, while McAdams is returning as Strange’s ex-girlfriend and former surgery aide for the first time since the 2016 original.

Meanwhile, Ejiofor reprises his role as the villainous Mordo, who was last seen in the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange. Strange’s former Guardians have been hunting other wizards and sorcerers to take away their powers if he deems them unworthy, but there’s no word on how their story arc will continue in this sequel.

Olsen, who starred in the Disney Plus TV show WandaVision, is set to co-star with Cumberbatch as Wanda’s new alter-ego Scarlet Witch, and will have a major role in the film’s plot (more on this later). even more).

The only announced newcomer so far is Gomez (The Baby-Sitter Club), who has been cast as America Chavez. The character also goes by the superhero pseudonym Miss America, and her comic origin story also points to the fact that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will explore new dimensions and alternate realities.

In the comics, Chavez is from the Utopian Parallel, a dimension that exists outside of space and time for the Marvel Multiverse. When a utopian parallel is threatened by a black hole that will pull it in different directions in the multiverse, Chavez’s mother Amalia and Elena sacrifice themselves to prevent this from happening. The only survivor of her race, Chavez uses her abilities to open an inter-dimensional portal to find a new home – one that leads to her arrival on Earth.

We don’t know whether Chavez’s comic origins will carry over into Doctor Strange 2, or whether it will take creative liberties to present him in a different way. If anything, it would be great to see one of Marvel’s newest popular heroes finally come to the MCU. On Instagram for National Superhero Day, Gomez also revealed that she “can’t wait” for fans to meet Miss America when Dr. Check out his post below:

Wanda’s twin boys Billy (Jet Klein) and Tommy (Julian Hilliard) are two individuals whose presence has not yet been confirmed. The two were last seen, or heard calling out for their mothers in the season finale post-credits scene of WandaVision. Again, we’ll see how they can factor into the film’s plot below, but it looks like Billy and Tommy will have some part to play in Doctor Strange 2.

According to Somerset Live, a UK-based newspaper, during the final week of filming, Klein and Hilliard were seen on set. Reportedly, shooting took place over several days at a larger farm called Burrow Hill Cider Farm, with a scene reportedly costing £2 million (approximately US$2.8 million). According to local residents, Klein and Hilliard were seen at the location, but there are no leaked photos of the two to verify these claims.

Additionally, we can also visit Earth-616, which is the main Marvel universe in the comics. According to the Spotlight actor page for John Prophet, who appeared in The Witches and Wonder Woman 1984, we’ll see Prophet play the character known only as “New Yorker 616”.

Of course, this could only be related to the number of an addition — someone who is a background character in some scenes — but the “616” reference is much more than that, in our opinion. Earth-616 is mentioned in the MCU, known as Earth-199999, on several occasions, such as in Thor: The Dark World and Spider-Man: Far From Home. It’s not a stretch to assume, that we can see Strange, Wanda or the other persons traveling the 616 universe in the movie Multiverse of Madness.

It is also possible that there will be yet unseen characters in Doctor Strange 2. in December 2019 collider In interviews, Feige stated that the film will feature “some new MCU characters who will make their debut in a movie you wouldn’t expect or guess who it is”. Of course, those characters have already appeared in Miss America, Billy and Tommy now, but there’s always the potential to feature more.

one such rumor Evident Adam Hugill (1917, The Watch), who is said to have been cast as an alien minotaur named Rintra. In the comics, Rintra is from an alternate dimension planet called R’Val, and has a history with Doctor Strange in Marvel Comics. With his moderately powerful magical abilities, Rintra could be Doctor Strange’s ally in the film.

Finally, Bruce Campbell is believed to be making a cameo appearance (per collider) Campbell worked with film director Sam Raimi on the latter’s iconic Evil Dead series and also had a cameo in Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. However, it is not yet known with whom he will play.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Plot: What Is It About?

We only have a brief synopsis to go on in an official capacity, but there are other rumors and Marvel projects hinting at where the story could be headed.

According to a casting call From November 2020, Doctor Strange 2 will follow “the events of Avengers: Endgame”. Dr. Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone, but an old friend-turned-foe sabotages his plans and causes Strange to uncover unspeakable evil.

What can we explain from that brief? Well, there are only two options for this friend to foe – Mordo and Wanda. We already know that Mordo has turned to the dark side after the events of Doctor Strange, so smart money must be on him to cause some sort of havoc.

However, we suspect it is more likely to be Wanda. As the scene after the season finale of WandaVision showed, Wanda is using the Darkhold to expand her knowledge of her newfound powers. Also known as the Book of Sins, Darkhold is an ancient tome full of spells and unspeakable power, meant to tie into the ‘unspeakable evil’ line of the synopsis.

WandaVision’s villain Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) hints that the Scarlet Witch will “destroy the world”, which may be a warning that Wanda has been consumed by Darkhold’s influence.

If she is, Wanda may eventually become the vessel to unleash the ‘unspeakable evil’, causing reality to collapse and many universes to bleed into one another. It will be up to Doctor Strange to try to reverse Wanda’s actions, and prevent the MCU and other dimensions from collapsing…
