Battlefield 2042 trailer unveils

ea play 2020

The upcoming Battlefield was shown off in a technical trailer during EA Play 2020, though we didn’t know much about it back then. In the trailer, we only caught a glimpse of some “work in progress” footage, which featured facial animations and a large number of soldiers rushing into battle.

From the brief glimpse we saw, it looks like the facial animations will be more realistic than before and we’ll see the battlefields grow even bigger this time around (the latter has since been confirmed).

“We’re creating epic battles on scale and fidelity unlike anything you’ve experienced before,” EA Chief Studio Officer Laura Milley said during the video. See it for yourself below, at the 44-minute mark:

battlefield 2042 setting

Battlefield 2042 is set in a world that is on the Nerdshala of complete devastation. After the failure of many countries in the world, the lack of food, energy and water has created the “greatest refugee crisis in human history”. These refugees include “non-patriots” (also known as no-pats), made up of families, farmers, engineers and soldiers, who have been left without a nation to call their own.

The last two superpowers left are the United States and Russia, which are battling for control of the world’s last remaining resources. To survive, non-pat specialists join both sides so that when the last shot is fired, they have “a seat at the table”. Players will take on the role of one of these non-pat specialists.

EA DICE has called Battlefield 2042 a “true evolution” of the Battlefield franchise.

Battlefield 2042 Multiplayer Mode

Battlefield 2042 will feature three “distinctive, standout multiplayer experiences,” according to EA DICE, but Battle Royale isn’t one of them.

The first of these multiplayer experiences is All-Out War, which is described as the next-generation Conquest and Decisive mode we’ve seen before in the series. There are 128-player maps in this mode on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X, while PS4 and Xbox One players will have 64-player versions of these maps, which have been truncated for last-gen consoles, but are still more accessible than others. is big. Previous entries (read more on these maps). EA DICE assures players that “gameplay, events and moments will be felt for all Battlefield players, whatever platform they play on”.

Conquest Mode is the “classic all-out combat experience” and will see players fight across a vast space. According to EA DICE, there’s a lot of varied pacing in this mode, with players choosing where to go and how to fight. EA DICE says that Conquest will have moments with a lot of players, making combat a little chaotic, while other moments will be less chaotic and more personal.

On the other hand, success is a more directed experience. This mode sees one side attacking and the other defending in an attempt to capture territories, and will see the two sides coming face-to-face in massive skirmishes.

In addition to All-Out War, Battlefield 2042 will feature two other multiplayer experiences. The second of these is Hazard Zone, “a brand new, high-stakes, squad-based game-type” for the Battlefield franchise. EA DICE has emphasized that this is not a battle royale mode, instead, it is There’s clearly “a modern take on the multiplayer experience that’s distinctly dicey but very different from All-Out Warfare’s Conquest or Breakthrough modes”. We’ll find out more about this mode in the coming months.

The third multiplayer experience will be announced on July 22 at EA Play. The experience is being developed by Dice LA and will be another completely new mod for the franchise. EA DICE called this third experience “a love letter to Battlefield fans and longtime players that will feel right at home”.

EA DICE also revealed that Battlefield 2042 will have a battle pass for each season that will include a free and premium tier – although the premium tier will apparently only offer cosmetic items and will never map.

According to the developer, each season will advance the world’s narrative and introduce new content. Battlefield 2042 is gearing up for four seasons in its first year – with four new specialists to be introduced as well as new locations.

Battlefield 2042 Map

Battlefield 2042’s all out war multiplayer experience will launch with seven maps. Because of the size of these maps, each is divided into separate areas, with multiple objectives within those areas that are organized into groups. Clusters are areas where objects and objectives are concentrated in a single location, such as a village, stadium or oil stage. These zones change how you control areas, securing an area requires completing all objectives within that area.
