Hogwarts Legacy, the long-awaited Harry Potter game from Avalanche (makers of the Disney Infinity series of games), may be preparing to show the dark side of the wizarding world.
In a (since deleted) tweet from Hogwarts Legacy author DC Allen, a discussion about the game’s potential age rating prompted the book series’ Dark Arts for the Harry Potter title – Forbidden Magic that only powerful evil wizards use. , opened the possibilities of inclusion.
When asked whether it would be possible to kill in the new game, the author replied (as preserved.) comicbook.com🙂
“Aren’t they allowed to kill in 16+ games? I think you can totally kill the bad guys in Horizon Zero Dawn, it just wasn’t bloody. I don’t think I can answer your question directly But in the trailer you can see that a lot of evil is happening in the world of magic.”
We already know that enemies will use the Dark Arts in the game – the first one playstation blog Adrian Rope’s post, head of story at Avalanche, noted that the game would feature “a duel against a deadly dark witch”. But Allen’s comments about what is allowed in “16+” games and a direct reference to killing the bad guys outright in similar open world games point to the possibility of employing more mature themes and methods of attack. .

Little Dumbledore, Little Voldemort?
There’s a lot more to learn about Hogwarts Legacy, due out for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS5, PS4 and PC at some point in 2022. But we can certainly speculate a lot about what to expect from Allen’s comments and the previous information shared by Avalanche.
“Hogwarts Legacy is filled with immersive magic, placing players at the center of their adventure so they can choose to become a witch or a wizard,” revealed a previous Q&A. “They’ll develop their character’s abilities as they master powerful spells, master combat skills, and select companions to help them face deadly enemies. Players also encounter such missions and scenarios.” Will meet who will challenge their morals and determine what they stand for.”
That “morality” mention, along with Alan’s comments, certainly leaves the door open for the use of the so-called “murder curse”, Avada Kedavra, the instant-death spell that is notorious in the wizarding world. Any good RPG worth its salt gives the player character the freedom to direct their own path as they see fit – will the Hogwarts legacy let us go with the forces of evil, and allow for the most heinous acts of the Potterverse? ? Here’s hoping – it’s definitely starting to seem like it.
