one of the best additions fortnite Over the years there has been the ability to play games in split-screen mode. This useful feature allows two players to enjoy battle royale games on the same screen without the need to own a second console. It has some limitations to its use, but – for the most part – it’s a great way to let friends and family experience one of the most popular free games on the market. Here’s how to play fortnite In split-screen mode.

while fortnite Available on nearly every system under the sun, split-screen mode is limited to Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The feature was added in 2019, and Epic Games is expected to roll out the feature for PC and Switch users in a future update. We are well into 2021, and we still have no word on when this update will happen. Until then, the mode is limited to playing Fortnite on Xbox and Sony consoles. If you’re running it on a Series X, Series S, or PS5, you’ll benefit from a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second.
Getting a friend to join the fun is an easy process, and it follows the same steps for all compatible consoles. Before you begin, however, make sure you have a second account and controller available for your friend to use. Then, follow these easy steps to turn on split-screen mode:
- navigate to Main menu.
- Make sure the second controller is connected to your console and powered on.
- Once connected, the other player should be invited to select their account.
- After signing in, another player will now appear in fortnite lobby.
that’s all there is to it! Now you can join the games together and fight for a victory royale. However, there are some important restrictions to be aware of.
This should come as no surprise, but solo mode isn’t available when playing split-screen online multiplayer. This would give an unfair advantage in battle royale, as two people on the same couch can simultaneously coordinate their attacks and work effectively as a team against all other single players. For this reason, solo mode is not compatible with split-screen play. You also won’t be able to play in Creative Mode or Team Rumble.
Instead, you’ll stick to either Squad or Duos mode. These are the only modes that work when two players are using the same console, and there’s no word from Epic Games on whether this will change in the future.
You might also want to consider:
- The split-screen session will end if one player is disconnected, even if the other player remains logged in.
- You won’t see each other’s lobbies or menus because screen sharing only starts when a match is in session.
- Players will not share a list.
- Both players must select the same language setting as split-screen cannot handle multiple languages.
Although jumping into couch co-op is fun, you don’t want to overlook the potential downsides. The biggest – and most obvious – issue is that it will halve the size of your screen. This makes teamwork and communication paramount, as you will rely heavily on your teammates to tell you what they are looking for. The split-screen option will only show the feed in horizontal orientation, and you can’t switch it back to vertical. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but if you like your co-op running vertically, it may take some adjustment. As long as you’re mindful of these shortcomings, split-screen mode can be a lot of fun and a great way to introduce your friends to these shortcomings. fortnite craze
