While October 2021 as a release date is still very unclear, it is still pleased that it will land sometime this year.
There’s also the fact that Darby Stanchfield posted a photo on Instagram with co-stars Conor Jessup and Jackson Robert Scott titled “Half Season 3 Locked In…” Filming began in September, so logically filming Should be more or less done by now. It appears, what happened with the confirmation of an October 2021 launch date.
Locke and Key Season 2 Cast and Story: What’s Next?
Firstly, we can expect the main cast to return. It stars Darby Stanchfield, Conor Jessup, Emilia Jones, and Jackson Robert Scott, along with the Locke family, as well as Dodge, Lucas, and Gabe, played by Lesla de Oliveira, Felix Mallard, and Griffin Gluck, respectively.
But in terms of new faces, Brendan Hines (The Tick, Scorpion) Locke and Key joins Season 2 as Josh Bennett, a charming history teacher at Matheson Academy with a secret alternate agenda, Deadline reports. It has also been reported that Aaron Ashmore and Hal Jones have been promoted to season 2 regulars, with Liu Abere (Mrs. America) rumored to guest star. Ashmore is reportedly Duncan Locke, a family member with a past related to the keys, who helps Locke against the hoax, with Jones as a demon, and a former mean high school girl.
The story is set to start right from where the first season ended. Locke is cast out by the demon as Dodge, Lucas and Gabe. Not only must the Locke family deal with the fact that they have been tricked by the demon into throwing Ellie (Sherry Soum) into the void beyond the Omega door, it seems that Eden (Helia Jones) may be killed and now Can be controlled by demons, too.

Elsewhere, expect a lot more doors, keys, and monsters (as mentioned in the tweet above), but there’s still a lot of story information to be revealed. However, we know that Hill and Rodriguez aren’t shy about making changes when it comes to adapting comics’ stories. “It’s got to work as a TV show,” Hill told Entertainment Weekly in response to questions on Sam Lesser’s low involvement and the mixing of the two major keys in Season 1.
“It has to succeed in the possibilities and limits of its particular form,” Hill continued. although we [Hill and Rodríguez] worked on the comic, we were always eager to make it a success as a comic,” Hill said, adding that it was the work of the show’s cast and crew to “create something that is successful on its own terms as a TV show.”
Locke and Key season 2 may mix comics and original stories
Locke and Key Season 2 will obviously have some origin stories, but there’s still plenty of material to adapt from the comics in the years to come. “There are definitely stories left in the comics that we want to capture to use in future seasons,” Cuse said in the same Collider interview. “So, it still remains a bit of a remix, pulling from stories from the comic and from our own origin stories.”
