Stranger Things Season 4 Release Date: 2022?
The Stranger Things Season 4 release date hasn’t been announced yet. It’s no surprise that principal photography is still underway, so we can’t say for sure when it will arrive.
However, fans have been told that it is expected to air by 2022. This is according to Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things. The actor recently conducted a chat via online meet-and-greet platform Fanmio, and was asked when season 4 might arrive. In somewhat disappointing news, Wolfhard confirmed that fans shouldn’t expect Season 4 to arrive until next year.

A week after Wolfhard’s comments, Noah Schnapp also teased when season 4 might arrive. Like his fellow cast members, Schnapp was asked about its possible release date during a FanMeo chat, and he suggested it may be out sooner than we thought.
When asked if the cast has started filming again, Schnapp said they have. He revealed that principal photography should be completed “by the summer” and then “the season would be over”.

Of course, Schnapp’s comments don’t mean that season 4 will arrive sometime this year. The next season will need to be edited into episodes, post-production will need to incorporate VFX and other behind-the-scenes elements and there is always the possibility of a reshoot to improve the flow of each chapter from the perspective of the story. .
Both the estimates have also been backed by Netflix. As part of the streaming giant’s Q1 2021 shareholders’ letter, which was issued in mid-April 2021, Stranger Things season 4 was notably absent from the list of productions that Netflix confirmed to arrive in 2021 .
The streamer revealed that TV shows including The Witcher Season 2, You Season 3 and Sex Education Season 3 will launch later this year, but Stranger Things was nowhere to be seen. If anything, it confirms that we won’t see Season 4 until 2022.
According to this GameSpot article, filming began in February 2020, but production was halted shortly after the pandemic hit. Principal photography resumed in late September last year in the state of Georgia (h/t Newsweek), while other set locations have been seen in countries including Lithuania. The country’s recently retired Lukic’s prison was used for specific scenes and, if we had to guess, we’d say these relate to Hopper’s Russian imprisonment (more on this below).

There are other aspects of the series that the cast and crew are aware of. Speaking with Vogue in October 2020, Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler) noted that, in reference to Stranger Things Season 4, “While I can’t say much except that it will take some time to come out, it Will definitely be worth it. It’s going to be really big.”
Season 4 will not even be the final entry in the series, even though its ending has been planned. “Season 4 will not end,” co-creator Ross Duffer told THR, “we know what the end is, and we know when it is.” We can expect at least one more season after this, although there has been speculation that there will be a total of six seasons before the TV show is completed and dusted off.
Stranger Things season 4 trailer: Is anyone there?
Yes, but this is just a teaser trailer. You can watch the 50-second long video below, which was released in February 2020, and confirmed the survival of a particularly important character in the series:

It will take some time for us to see the official trailer. However, once it’s released, we’ll be sure to update this hub.
Stranger Things season 4: Hopper is alive
Yes, as revealed by the Season 4 teaser above, Detective Jim Hopper survived the events of the Season 3 finale. His fate was unknown when he convinced Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) to cause the Russians’ machine—which, despite being trapped inside the hopper, opened a gate to the Upside Down—to self-destruct.
However, fans speculated that Hopper was not killed in the explosion. At the end of Season 3, when Russian soldiers said that “Americans” shouldn’t be prey fed to a captive Demogorgon in a mid-credits teaser, fans thought they knew what the soldiers were referring to. It could only be one man: Jim Hooper, and the Season 4 teaser confirmed just as much.
Along with the trailer above, which sheds light on where Hopper ended up following the end of last season, the Duffer brothers released a statement on what happened to the character in February 2020. They said they were “excited to officially confirm that production. On Stranger Things 4 is now underway — and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper!”
“While this is not good news for our ‘American,’ he is imprisoned far from home in the icy wastelands of Kamchatka, where he will face both human and other threats. Meanwhile, back in the States, a The new terror is the beginning of the surface, something long buried, something that connects everything…”
“Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most horrifying season ever, and we all can’t wait to see more. In the meantime – pray for American.”
We don’t know much about what Hopper will do as part of his imprisonment, but Harbor is still filming his part for Season 4. Recently, the actor went live on Instagram in his Season 4 outfit – an outfit fans already saw in the Season 4 teaser trailer. While Harbor offered nothing, he did FaceTime Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), and the two briefly confirmed that they were currently filming, or were filming, in Atlanta.
Check out the footage, which is currently available to watch on Harbor’s Instagram account below:
Stranger Things Season 4: What will the story be about?
While there’s no official synopsis just yet, we’re constantly getting new information from the series’ cast and crew — and all signs point to Season 4 going deeper than its predecessors.
Joe Keery, who plays Steve Harrington, told Total Film that season 4 will be “the scariest yet”, and David Harbor revealed (per Deadline) that Hopper’s journey this season is “in a slightly darker color palette.” will be painted.”
We are also aware that more pictures from the sets have been coming out. These include the ones below, which show a very ’80s trailer park covered with some creepy tendrils that look out over the house.

Not only this. Like we said earlier, Gaten Matarazzo has been teasing what fans can expect from Season 4 in some recent interviews, and it looks like Keery and Harbor were spot on with their claim of darker vibes.
In a March interview with Collider, Matarazzo revealed that the Duffer brothers had finished writing the script for Season 4, which is a far cry from how the two had written the first three seasons. On seasons 1–3, the Duffer brothers were still writing the final few episodes while filming was underway—a process that, according to Matarazzo, led to some “terror writing” on their part. This time, however, the Covid-19 pandemic allowed the pair to write Season 4 before principal photography resumed last September.
Matarazzo was also a guest on the April 7, 2021 edition of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. During the chat, Matarazzo claimed that Season 4 would be “the scariest” yet, and that the Duffer brothers were “really going for it this year”.
In a separate interview with ET Online, Maya Hawke was asked about the story of Season 4 of Robin. Naturally, Hawke didn’t offer anything, but he did hint that the Duffer brothers “really dig him this season,” so we can expect more of Robin’s backstory and his role in the proceedings going forward. .
The information we have that appears to be related to the Season 4 plot is at length. In a tweet posted by the Stranger Things writers’ team – uploaded in June 2020 – it appears that Season 4 will have nine episodes, just like Season 2 had.
