Keanu Reeves has been in the band for years, but for his new comic book series Brazzrakr he’s leaning on a classic musician to tell the story: Etta James. 29 in september #5, a new arc opens with some low key moments and music.
Etta James’ trademark song, ‘At the end,’ is put on the record player by Keanu’s immortal warrior Bee (who looks just like Keanu), in an attempt to break an impasse where Doctor Diana Ahuja tries to get the truth of Bee’s past out of him. And from the looks of it, Bee (like Keanu Reeves) has an ear for great music, and it prompts Keanu to reminisce more about his centuries-old past.
Watch this preview of Brazzerker #5 by Reeves, co-writer Matt Kindt, artist Ron Garney, colorist Bill Crabtree, and letterer Clem Robbins:
If you know Etta James”At the end!‘ Record, you know it’s the second song on side B – which means B knows the record so well he can put the record needle right where ‘At Last’ begins, the first song’ Except I just want to make love to you.
(That song might be a bit much as an opening number for someone you just might be getting to know better.)
Lee Garbett produced the main cover of Brazzrakr #5, which includes different covers by Giuseppe Camuncoli and Declan Shalvi. Check them out here:
