The outage may have already been fixed, per a Tweet from New York Times reporter Mike Isaacs, and was reportedly caused by a ‘configuration change’ – which shut down all services on Monday. (Facebook claims today’s outage was unrelated to earlier this week, in line with Isaac’s previous Tweet.)
That earlier outage was prolonged by special circumstances that stopped further changes from being made and required a more dramatic revamp of a team to make changes to the location at a California data center, As was reported.
It is not clear whether further improvements were needed for the same reason, but the outage was certainly less impressive. Facebook warned it would take time for services to stabilize new York Times.
