Now, the game has a sequel titled Away: The Changing Tide Published by Frontier Foundry which aims to change things up a bit. The sequel will maintain the tone of the first game, but this time players will have to drive a new vehicle through aquatic locations.
Recently, Don Schmocker, co-founder and lead artist of Okomotive made an announcement about away: the changing tide, Having said that it will launch for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on March 1, 2022. He said that the game will be a vehicular adventure that follows a young boy named Tow who is traveling on his ship to the post-flood world.
According to Schmoker, the developers at Okomotive received a lot of positive player feedback about how away: lonely sail The “meditative, contemplative nature” resonated with him. So, the developers wanted to maintain that environment again while changing things up in the sequel. The intention is that the sequel will bring a more “thought-stimulating experience” for players to enjoy in the new game.
For the sequel, Schmocker said that Okomotiv wanted to expand on the setting by introducing something with new locations such as stormy weather and submerged cities. This new environment aims to provide fans and new players with an experience full of new puzzles and ship mechanics to master. To explore this new setting, players will use the game’s new vehicle, the Tow Ship, to travel with sails, paddles and an engine.
Like the first game, the story for Away: The Changing Tide The players will not be told but must be found. For the sequel, Okomotive wrote most of the story and world-building during pre-production, which allowed the developers to design the environment to accompany the story. According to Schmoker, players will be able to learn the game’s hidden story by searching for sunken treasures, buildings, flood victims and any relics from the past. All of these items will tell a story in the game, and the intention is that it will create a closer bond between the players and the game world. The Flood setting also adds verticality to the gameplay with new level exploration as players’ journeys will take them up and down the water in the game.
