OK, one last update. Just a PSA: You can log into the launcher and download the patch now. It’s about 4GB, so not huge, but not something you want to download when you know you’re already waiting for a server queue.

However, while you can log into the launcher to download the patch, you can’t log into the actual game just yet. For that we just wait for the server to return.

My alarm was set for 4 in the morning. I am ready to bear with everyone.

Probably the last update until the server goes up. I guess I decided to level 90 the astrologer first, just because I really want to try out the new card system and actually spend hours grinding from 70-80 to level sage in Bojan Southern Front I don’t want to

It reminds me, there are two new classes in Endwalker: Sage and Reaper. If you’re going to level up one of these from the start, keep in mind that they both start at level 70, so you’ll have to grind down a bit before starting the new main story stuff.

And while tomorrow morning’s launch is technically early access for anyone thinking about it, you can still pre-download the expansion on Steam or Square Enix’s own website (or PSN if you play on PS5). You can get access by ordering.

Again, if you haven’t played at all, did you know that Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial of up to level 60 that includes the award-winning expansion Heavensword? You can get it right here.

I’m going to have a bit of sleep until the server gets up at 4am. I’ll see everyone bright and quick to wait in the server queue.

OK, I’ve made it home, ate a sandwich and taken my meds, it’s time to wait for the servers to go up. In the meantime, it looks like Square Enix has delivered a letter about the expansion’s launch, and get ready to queue up servers.

In the blog post, the company says that there are more active players than ever right now, and that with a new expansion more people are going to be playing, the servers are going to be tougher than ever.

The company covers a workaround in that blog post if you’re in a particularly crowded world. You can simply log into another world on the same data center, by right clicking on your character and selecting “Go to another world server”.

The blog post also mentioned a number of potential issues, perhaps just to let players know that there will be some issues with the launch.

I’ve seen a lot of MMO expansion launches and none of them went smoothly, so I fully expect some long queues and server crashes. And don’t worry, it’ll all be chronicled right here.

Now leaving the office and going home. Now I have to ride it home deciding which job I’m going to take first. Will it be the White Mage? Astrologer? Or I’m going to have trouble leveling the monk from 70-90 at the very beginning. only time will tell.

I’m finishing a few things at the office, eating some food before I can go home, and getting some sleep before the server is expected to go live at 4:00 AM EST. Looks like it’s morning for me.

let’s go.
