Florentine Health, which creates software that links clinical trials, sponsors, and contract research organizations, announced today that it has raised $27 million in Series C-1 led by Insight Partners. Insight Partners is known for its ScaleUp program, which helps companies in its portfolio grow rapidly.
Florence Healthcare, which has raised $114.1 million to date, is using its latest capital injection to double clinical trial results by enabling remote access. The company plans to hire employees, work on its products and expand links between its 10,000 clinical trial centers and sponsors.
The company has two main products. Its electronic binders simplify the work of clinical investigators with a digital workflow that includes regulatory compliance and remote connectivity. Meanwhile, its SiteLink platform links sites, sponsors, and contract research organizations. The company said that SiteLink provides 4 million remote surveys every month.
Digitizing research operations could help bring clinical trials closer to underrepresented patients who can’t travel to major academic medical centers, the company says. Florence Healthcare claims that its software now equips research centers within 25 miles of 80% of the US population..
