What’s new

This is the culmination of four years of work since the release of version 5.8. Two development teams and a break between them due to the pandemic. To the end user, it may not seem like a lot of changes, but the biggest and most difficult part was migrating the entire project from VS2008 to VS2019 and successfully building it all.

The groundwork has been laid and now we can focus more on features. Whether it’s fixing/replacing old ones or adding new ones. The build number will remain 9999 for that release, eg if/when rc2 or the final release is released (builds can be identified by filename + timestamp). Let’s reset to 5.9.1.

Even though extensive internal testing has already been done, this build is still marked as a release candidate. All features need testing. If possible, test the installation on Windows 7–8.1. There have already been several posts about DLLs not being loaded 🙁

  • Unicode support in Plush was broken in the transition to VS2019.

ABC editor

  • The main menu is no longer localized
  • Hopefully will be fixed for 5.9.1

milk drop

  • Some presets cause errors (error in frame code, etc.)
  • Another negative impact of the migration process.
  • For now, we have forced the “suppress all warnings” option to be enabled.
  • removed the most vulnerable presets from the package,
  • and (when updating) we renamed the 11 most vulnerable presets with the .off extension.
  • We hope to fully fix this for 5.9.1.
  • ReplayGain calculation does not work for vorbis (.ogg) files
  • This is also a problem in 5.8
  • Found too late, hopefully will be fixed in 5.9.1.

NSV VP3 decoder = broken/missing

ml_wire Podcasts

  • omBrowser uses the IE(10) engine, which some podcast sites no longer support.
  • We fixed the https subscription in general,
  • but if manual https subscription doesn’t work try http.
  • For version 5.9.1 and above, we may consider replacing the browser’s internal engine with, for example, Mozilla or Chromium.

Bento skin

  • “Settings => Appearance => Show Artist Info Buttons”
  • are still on the menu even though we removed them.
  • Please note that we have also disabled links in MCV (artist, album, etc. are no longer clickable).
