Cute cartoon avatars are all over Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. We’ll show you how to make your own.
When I first saw the fully rendered cartoon avatar on my Facebook feed, my eyes widened like a cherubic rendering in front of me. It was my cousin’s daughters, but Disney-fed, brimming with lights, and supersized eyes trembling with emotion. “What app is this?” I asked him, need to know immediately. He told me: Voila AI artist.
It was two days ago. Since then, voila AI Artists’ creations have popped up on my Facebook feed, and spread to Instagram and WhatsApp (both owned by Facebook). I downloaded it to try myself, drawn to the sophisticated cartoon art and how it managed to capture the character of my friends of all ages. It’s free with a premium ad-free option for iPhone and Android (more on that below).
There’s something about avatars that I find relentlessly compelling, from the first Yahoo Messenger avatar to Bitmoji and beyond, like the power to capture an original essence while pushing a more playful version of ourselves into our cartoons. is. Anyway, it took less than five minutes to download Voila AI Artist and create my first cartoon grid. I also learned a few things along the way. Here’s how to do it and what to know.
how to make your own voila ai artist cartoon
Phase 1: Download Voila AI Artist for iPhone or Android and launch the app. It will ask for permission to access your phone’s camera roll.
step 2: Choose from four styles: 3D Cartoon (which I used here), Renaissance, 2D Cartoon and Caricature. Tap arrow to start.
step 3: Your Camera Roll is now open. Select the photo you want to use, or tap camera or celebrities at the bottom of the screen to take a new picture or find celebrities. This creates a grid of four options. On the free version, expect to see one or two ads that obstruct your view. After a few beats, you can X out the ad and return to your images.
step 4: You’ll see four options — the overall grid of your original photo and three of your cartoon renderings, and all three renderings (Royalty 3D, Baby 3D and Cartoon 3D). You can either take a screenshot from here and crop it, or select any of the four options and click the edit button – an up arrow on Android – instantly on Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp To share, or share via email, save or other options (when you press more)
To remove watermarks, speed up the rendering process and remove ads every time you render, you can update to the Voila Pro version for $2 per week, $4 per month, or $21 per year – Price at the time of writing . There is a free, three-day trial with that option.
Voila what’s not good with an AI artist
- nonhuman, such as dogs or cats
- Images where the app says faces cannot be detected
- Images of cut-off heads often work, but the app fills up with a strange halo
