In the context: Yesterday, Hideo Kojima made a surprise appearance at the Xbox Bethesda presentation to announce a partnership between Kojima Productions and Microsoft that will use the latter company’s cloud technology. The creator of Metal Gear Solid has had a close relationship with Sony for 24 years, and while he insists nothing has changed, fans have created a petition hoping to cancel this Xbox exclusive.
Kojima, as usual, was elusive during the announcement of the partnership with Xbox Game Studios. He said that Kojima Productions would create the game he always wanted to make, “a brand new game that no one has ever tried or seen before.” The company will use the Microsoft Azure cloud platform to create a “never seen before” concept.
The post raised concerns among PlayStation fans over whether Kojima would end or scale back his work on the platform. “After the announcement of our cloud partnership with Microsoft, many people asked us about our collaboration with [Sony Interactive Entertainment],” Kojima Productions tweeted. “Please rest assured that we also have a very good partnership with PlayStation.”
Since the announcement of our cloud partnership with Microsoft, many people have asked us about our collaboration with SIE. We assure you that we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation®.#KojimaProductions https://t.co/mVOELwDuk9

Despite reports that the studio is working on both a cloud game and another major PlayStation game, perhaps Death Thread 2several people were so unhappy with Kojima’s expansion that they started Petition on Change.org is called “cancel the Kojima Xbox exclusive game”.
The petition says that Kojima is “blinded by greed” and adds that not everyone has access to a fast enough internet connection to stream games or the money to buy a new console/build a new PC. The petition ends with “Please, Kojima, don’t.” [sic] leave us,” so you can imagine what the loyalty of the creator is. Unless the whole thing is a troll, which is always possible.
Death Stranding was a PlayStation exclusive until it was released on PC, which caused a flurry of outrage among PlayStation fans. Kojima’s Xbox/PC cloud gaming certainly sounds like an interesting prospect that could make good money, much to the dismay of the 1,500 people who signed the petition.
