YouTube channels are not just for creators who want to upload videos. Creating a channel offers additional features for people who just want to consume content on the platform. A Google account allows you to subscribe to channels and like videos, but that’s about it. Whether you want to comment on videos, create video playlists, or just have a public YouTube account, you need to create a YouTube channel.
You will first need to create a Gmail account if you don’t already have one. You will have to open mobile or desktop browser because channels cannot be created in the YouTube app.

How to start a personal YouTube channel
- Sign in to YouTube on your mobile or desktop browser.
- Select your profile picture (usually in the top right corner) and choose Create Channel.
- A window will appear allowing you to upload a profile picture and edit the name of your YouTube channel.

4. Click Create Channel.
