On Monday, I wrote about the leaked details of an unannounced HTC Vive Flow VR headset, which is expected to be announced at an event on Thursday. Exactly a day later, we now know what it looks like. Thanks for the images shared by prolific leaker evan blass.

Overall, the images in Blass’s tweet match many of the descriptions. reported by Etiquette on Monday, but they give a better idea of what the final device might look like. (And I’m just going to say this: the leaked promo makes wearers look like a bug.) It’s hard to say that the big yellow spots can be seen on the front of the headset; But if you look closely, it appears that the front of the device could be equipped with cameras.

Leaked photos indicate that the headset will be connected via wire to some kind of tube-shaped device, which will probably provide a little extra power to the headset (similar to the original Magic Leap). Another set of images leaked by Blass shows that it also has internal processing (and a blower-style cooling fan), though:

The new headset bears a very close resemblance to HTC’s “Project Proton,” a prototype mixed reality device that the company revealed in February 2020 with a similarly small-eyed design and similar potential to be tied in a pack. It’s unclear if the Vive Flow is that Proton’s final retail development, but it seems like a strong possibility.

If you want to know more about the Vive Flow, you can’t wait too long, as the company will be hosting an event on Thursday with the coincidental tagline “Flow with the Flow.” Earlier on Tuesday morning, HTC released a very short form What will be announced there – while it’s hard to tell if it matches the leaked renders of the Blass, it certainly looks like a VR headset of some sort.
