According to an Irish musician, a “big” PlayStation remake will be announced in December.
Speaking on the radio program The Lunchbox (via) gematsu), singer-songwriter Ava said that she “recently” [written] A song for a PlayStation game.” He explained that in the spring of 2020, he was approached by composer Michael McGlynn, whose vocal group Ana contributed music on Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and who said: “‘We’re Writing music for a remake of a PlayStation game.”
The AVA says that McGlynn explained that Sony was looking for an Irish-language piece, and that he contributed to the lyrics. AVA also stated that for some time, they did not know what they were writing as a result of Sony’s desire to keep the project “anonymous”. However, he confirmed that he has now learned what the game is, and that “it’s a big game”, which is “going to be announced at Christmas.”
The AVA suggests they are no gaming experts, so it’s hard to understand exactly what they might have done, but there are some clues. McGlynn’s previous work with the Xenoblade team may have resulted in a work with a Japanese developer – Several Silent Hill games are said to be in development. From a “major” studio, and a Gaelic song could very well fit into a remake of that setting. Rumors have also indicated a revival of infamous And a metal gear solid 3 remake, although the latter is said to be closed in some way, so it is unlikely to be revealed in December.
It is unclear when the reveal is expected. That “Christmas” window does narrow things, especially with The Game Awards 2021 It is due to take place on December 9th, but it is also possible that the State of Play showcase is planned for the festive season. Either way, hopefully we’ll find out more in the coming weeks.
