James Webb Space Telescope to fly as US postage stamp in September

James Webb Space Telescope already traveled 1 million miles through space. The new generation telescope will soon be shipped via the US Postal Service.

The Postal Service announced on Tuesday that the telescope will feature on new stamps that go on sale September 8 (pre-orders begin August 8). Image Features telescope18 gold-plated segments that form a 21-foot mirror.

The Postal Service said there are no plans to issue any stamps with images taken by the telescope.

Buyers can purchase stamps through Post store onlineby phone at 844-737-7826 and by mail via US philately or local post offices.

Another new brands already released in 2022 include one from the Black Heritage series dedicated to sculptor Edmonia Lewis and the latest Music Icons stamp featuring Pete Seeger. In October: A stamp honoring the women cryptologists of World War II.

The US Postal Service will issue new Forever stamps featuring the James Webb Space Telescope in sheets of 20.  Pre-orders will start on August 8th.
