6 The House Select Committee has summoned several close Trump aides involved in planning rallies for the Capitol riot, including Alex Jones of Infowars and longtime Trump confidant Roger Stone, as part of its investigation, President Benny Thompson (D-Miss.) made the announcement Monday.

why it matters: The committee is aggressively pursuing the testimony and documents of those in Trump’s classroom and has interviewed more than 150 people as part of their investigation.

  • According to the release, Stone also promoted his presence at the rally and solicited money to pay for the security via the StoptheSteal.org website. At least one private security guard he hired for January 6 has been charged with involvement in the riots.
  • Monday’s announcement also included summons from Dustin Stockton, Jennifer Lawrence and Taylor Budovich, who allegedly spread claims of election fraud and helped organize or promote rallies until January 6.

What are they saying: Thompson said in a statement, “We needed to know who organized, planned, paid for and received funding related to those events, as well as communications with officials in the White House and Congress. ”
