Maggie Robertson aka Lady Dimitrescu of Resident Evil Village has won this year’s Best Performer Golden Joystick Award.
The budding figure of Lady Dee was always going to provide stiff competition—just ask anyone who’s managed to successfully escape her castle—but the category was a stalemate between Resident Evil’s tallest vampire, Jason Kelly, and Ojioma Akagha, between Cole and Kay. There was a close fight between the respective demonstrations. Juliana in Deathloop, Erica Mori in Alex in Life is Strange: True Colors, Jennifer Hale in Ratchet & Clank’s Rivet: Rift Apart, and Hollywood star Elijah Woods Gristle in Psychonauts 2.

2021 was a great year for starring in video games and this list proves just how effective Robertson’s performance was.
In our Resident Evil Village review, writer Leon Hurley praised the game’s use of the giant Dimitrascu, noting that: “The lady of the house and her children, when they appear, briefly form a set piece, Intense, structured encounters add up to “different mixes”, which saw players scurrying around corridors to make sure they didn’t bump into this charming figure.
This isn’t the first award Resident Evil Village has won tonight, with the game already winning best audio of the evening.
