Ramsey, who plays Ellie in the series, shared an IMDb post on her Instagram Story, which gives The Last of Us a 2022 release date. Production on the series is expected to run until June, and Kantemir Balagov, one of the series’ directors, lists The Last of Us (2022) in his Instagram bio. This year looks very likely for the show’s arrival date, but nothing has been officially confirmed by HBO yet.

The series, based on the video game of the same name, also stars Pedro Pascal as Joel, who must transport Ellie safely across the zombie-infested United States. Gabriel Luna plays Joel’s brother Tommy, while Merle Dandridge is Marlene, Nico Parker is Joel’s daughter Sarah, Nick Offerman is Bill (replacing Conn O’Neill), and Anna Torv is Tess.

The show will be 10 episodes long, with Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann onboard to write and executive produce the series.

“The crew has a lot of game fans and they’ve said that a lot of things are very, game-like, a lot of the sets feel like they’re going on in a video game, so I think that’s cool,” Ramsey has said about the series. “Plus I have to keep quiet a lot of it.”
