Further details about the apparent project are still unknown, including whether the series will be live-action or animated. Amazon Studios is currently working on a live-action TV adaptation of Bethesda’s Fallout series, but that doesn’t mean the Mass Effect show will follow the same format. Either way, Deadline reports that Amazon Studios is “close to a deal” to develop the series, so it’s likely to be announced soon.

If confirmed, the Mass Effect TV series will join upcoming adaptations of TV shows based on the video game, including the aforementioned Fallout series on Amazon, Netflix’s The Witcher Season 2, PlayStation’s Twisted Metal Show, Paramount Plus’ Halo series. Includes Assassin’s Creed. Netflix series, and finally, HBO’s highly anticipated The Last of Us TV show.

Amazon Studios said, “You’ll see as we continue to invest in all kinds of fantasy genre, we have a genre-focused team on the ground at Studios that works tirelessly with our creative partners on those slates, And you can expect more.” Head Jennifer Salke.

As far as the release date, we’re far from knowing what year the Mass Effect series might premiere — and it’s assuming it will get an official green signal. Amazon Studios is currently working on prepping a TV adaptation of Lord of the Rings for a September 2022 release date, so certainly don’t expect any Mass Effect series debut before that.
