Gary Grigsby’s War in the East 2 will release on Steam on December 9. Previously exclusive to publisher Slytherin’s website store, Monster Wargame is what I’d call the most comprehensive simulation of Warfare to date. Simulating in fine detail the conflict between the Soviet Union and the Nazi Third Reich between 1941 and 1945, it’s the only game a Wargame fan can literally sink thousands of hours into and feel like they’ve barely touched the surface. has been scratched.
War in the East 2, or WitE 2, was released earlier this year and was well received by fanatics who follow War Games directly, but I expect the Steam release to be the real first contact with the wider public. Will happen. The original War in the East and the Sequel War in the West are much loved, don’t get me wrong, but they are out of date now. We’ll soon see how a whole new generation of gamers feel about strategy at this scale.
Ex 2’s major improvements over the former games are considered to be in the AI, logistics network, and historical road maps. Other system improvements include taking control of your air force, a new order of war for your army, and a built-in encyclopedia of weapons and vehicles for you to use.
