Street Fighter V’s final digital event revealed new details on the final character, Luke, who will be a key player in the next Street Fighter project. We’re not ready to talk about it yet, but let’s dive into Luke in SFV and its unique gameplay mechanics.
SFV’s Final Combatant enters the ring
The SFV fall update debuted with a preview of Luke’s story mode. It follows a dramatic childhood event that inspires him to become a fighter, join the military, and face a familiar face.
We won’t spoil too much here. Play Luke’s character story to learn more.
Luke gets up close and personal
Luke is all about moving attacks that keep the pressure up. All three normal punches propel Luke, allowing him to aggressively close the distances. Luke also has a two target combo which is great for mitigating damage.
Luke’s target combos are great for dealing damage
Luke’s special moves allow him to close safely and create offensive opportunities. A medium- to long-range projectile called a “sand blaster” shoots energy from his hands. The “Rising Rocket” is an anti-air move that launches Luke upwards to attack aerial opponents.
“Avenger” is a forward dash Luke can string in the combo and lets him cover more ground. It has two follow-ups: “no chaser,” a shoulder charge integrated into the combo, and “impeller,” a mid-range overhead kick.
The “Flash Knuckle” is Luke’s go-to combo starter and extender. Each punch leads to a different forward attack.

Holding the punch performs a charged version of the “flash knuckle” and gives it different properties depending on the button pressed.
A Familiar Yet Unique V-System
Luke’s V-System, while familiar, has special qualities, especially with his V-Triggers. His V-Skill I, “Hard Shot”, “Flash Knuckle” charges without charging and moves without charging. If you charge after using “Hard Shot,” it performs an enhanced version with more damage and combo ability.
In V-Skill II, “Suppressor,” Luke takes a quick step forward before stabbing himself in the body. Aside from a parry, it excels against accurately timed throws and command grabs. While seemingly defensive, the move makes Luke read the precision and take offense by suppressing the escape.
Luke’s V-trigger is unique, as both cause his V-gauge to become a timer that continuously fills in the neutral position. Additionally, Luke can obtain the V-Timer by doing damage. Conversely, he loses the V-timer when he is hit or uses his V-trigger moves. these are the first sfv V-trigger to increase the V-timer as you do damage. It also forces opponents to try and stop maintaining a Luke-filled V-Timer.
V-Trigger I, “Fully Armed,” gives Luke access to two new moves, which we revealed during sfv Summer Update 2021. Pressing HP+HK after activation fires out three long-range projectiles called “Rock Smashers”.
Activate “Fully Armed” and knock out the opponents!
“Thermobaric Thrash,” executable only from the EX “Sand Blaster.” This does tons of damage but the EX meter must be used wisely.
“Thermobaric Thrash” deals damage stack but is only usable after EX “Sand Blaster”
V-Trigger II, “Pawn,” lets Luke cancel any “Flash Knuckles” in a different force. This opens up a previously unavailable combo path, causing Luke to double down on the “Flash Knuckles” in his combo.
The “Pawn” can string together “Flash Knuckles” of various powers for extended combos and extra damage!
Luke is fully armed and ready to fight on November 29thth With additional costumes. Be sure to prepare before Luke joins the fight. season 5 character Or Premium Pass.
Now that we know how Luke plays, let’s see him in action.
