The latest version of Microsoft Edge has a new hidden feature To keep you safe while browsing online. Known as “Super Duper Secure Mode”, this feature improves the performance of websites and disables the browser engine commonly misused by hackers.
“Performance and complexity often come at a cost, and often we bear this cost in the form of security bugs and subsequent patches. A look at CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposure) data after 2019 shows that V8 has About 45% of CVEs issued for Microsoft Windows were related to the JIT engine,” explained Jonathan Norman, head of Microsoft Edge vulnerability research.
Norman also said that turning off the JIT improves user security. Half of the V8 bugs are removed, which means fewer security updates and fewer emergency patches that frustrate enterprise users.
You can update Microsoft Edge to version 86 today to try out Super Super Secure Mode. Just tap on the three dots at the top right of the screen, then select Help & Feedback > About Microsoft Edge, Then you can restart the browser.
