In each year’s Minecraft Live, block-building developer Mojang lined up three new monster concepts and forced them to fight for fan votes to survive. This weekend’s show is no different, with Elle, Glare, and Copper Golem now waiting to see which of them will make it to Minecraft—the rest likely pulled into some bad developer’s recycle bin.
Mojang introduced us to the new monsters in a series of fascinating YouTube videos. NS copper golem, the cousin of the existing Iron Golem, will randomly push any button of copper left, though will oxidize and eventually become an idol over time.
glare, meanwhile, is a grumpy man who will moan when it’s dark enough to lay the eggs of more dangerous monsters. finally to resolve There is a helper blue angel who will take any item you give and hunt for more items of the same kind, dropping them into any note blocks nearby.
They all seem like helpful wee dudes, and it’s a shame that only one of them will be fully implemented in the final game. Last year, Minecraft Live added glow squid—which is neat enough, I guess, but it’s still a shame that a glowing cephalopod had to come at the cost of a floral cow and a literal snow-sorcerer.
Minecraft Live starts this Saturday, October 16, where one of these critters will eventually be declared the winner.
