in a universe where we’re all running one of the best tv shows to watch, more people should be talking about Dark.

But they are not. It’s a little weird.

A mind-bending show that deftly blends inner family drama with time travel, Dark’s third and final season was recently released on Netflix and, like its previous two seasons, it takes every possible level of fantasy. worth doing.

The comparison to The Stranger Things is understandable, but Dark is a very different show.

Dark is, at its core, a mystery series. like very much strange things — the show it’s compared to most often — Dark’s first season focused almost exclusively on the search for a missing child. But the kid in this show hasn’t run into a parallel universe, but a different one. Time 30 years in the past, Before Long Dark is a show that operates in many different time zones and dimensions.

Darkness is everything. This complex, intertwining plot twists on a level that makes done by Make it look like a show-off show for kids. It Earns These Twists Too Being a delicately written study of the broken family interrelationships and claustrophobia of small towns.

It’s a show that effortlessly juxtaposes the risks that come with narratives of time travel. Dark’s plot is complicated to the point where I make a game of waiting completely different. I’ve spent three whole seasons waiting for Dark to drop the ball and fall under his own weight, but it hasn’t happened.

uh oh. Here comes that exaggeration: This TV show is a divine miracle.

Perhaps the worst thing you can say about Dark is that it’s pretentious. Unlike other time travel shows like, say, Outlander — which revels in camp and begs you to ironically watch — Dark takes itself a whole lot more seriously. It’s relentless.

Dark tells you to honestly care about what’s happening on the screen. It influences its plot with several explicit references to Ariadne and the Bible. In most science fiction this would be enough to take my eyes off their socket and roll backwards in my brain, but Dark earns delusions of grandeur well enough to actually keep them up.

You want to bring your undeniable plot to life through dazzling performances and stellar writing with hints of Greek mythology and classical literature? Who am I to say no? go for your life

Perhaps the best part of Dark is that, unlike other so-called “prestige shows,” there’s no degradation in quality. No “jungle” season like Lost. Or skippable episodes like Stranger Things. it’s not dark Run to your conclusion like in Game of Thrones, or the betrayal of years of character building for a service plot. No, it stays on smoothly and accurately from start to finish, extremely well. I can’t think of another show like this. At least not on Netflix.

So why is no one talking about it? Why isn’t Dark’s show of consistent quality trending on Twitter? Why aren’t people getting angry at spoiling or befriending people who end arguments on Facebook? The Dark literally just dropped its spectacular finale season on Netflix and it seems no one – not even Netflix itself, has noticed?

Is it because it is “complicated”? Perhaps. Dark can be hard to follow and 100% expect its viewers to remember the intricate details of a vast family tree that runs across many different timelines.

time machine

Darkness spans many different times (and dimensions).

Has Dark been less publicized than other shows on Netflix? Possibly. I did start seeing dark After the first season of Stranger Things, The show appears to be operating in the shadow of the more popular shows in the recommendations.

Is it because it’s German? In-spite of this parasite Victory at the Oscars, I think subtitles are still a big hurdle. I can see a large US network buying a license for Dark and producing a (at most unlikely) version of the show using English speaking actors.

Either way, more people should be watching Dark.

i mean it’s right There. Three seasons of full television is available on a streaming service you may already be subscribing to. Dark won’t let you down, or give a shit like Game of Thrones. It wouldn’t end unfinished like Deadwood, or make zero sense like Westworld.

The darkness is there. To talk, to think. To be passionate Do yourself a favor and have a look.
