For those who don’t know, spatial audio is designed to reproduce theater-like sound from a movie or TV show. Whatever you watch at home, sounds will appear all around you.

Users can type “Spatial Audio” into the Netflix search bar to find all movies and series that support this option. The number of titles compatible with spatial audio depends on your streaming device.

The rollout means that users with devices that don’t normally support spatial audio can now use it. In addition, all subscribers, regardless of their Netflix subscription plan, will be able to use spatial audio.

Netflix has licensed Sennheiser’s AMBEO technology to deliver surround sound through any 2-channel stereo equipment that provides 3D positional audio without the need for additional surround speakers or home theater equipment. AMBEO’s goal is to provide “enhanced sound wherever stereo comes in today, be it standard TVs, stereos, headphones, tablets or laptops”, Sennheiser said in a statement.

For users who watch on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV, Netflix He speaks that the streaming quality must be set to “High” or “Auto” in order to watch content that is compatible with spatial audio.

It should also be noted that for those who already have a spatial audio compatible Apple devices — like third generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, and Beats Fit Pro — nothing will change as spatial audio support is already available.
