Scream is back on the big screen, and, like any good “Request” (it’s a reboot/sequel), it’s a mix of the old and the new.

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette are back as Sidney Prescott, Gail Wears, and Davey Riley, and they are joined by a slew of newcomers, including Melissa Barrera as central character Sam Carpenter.

Sam, it turns out, has a deep, dark secret linking him to the original murders. Billy Loomis, one of the first Ghostfaces, is her father. As it turns out, Campbell, Cox, and Arquette aren’t the only legacy actors who are back for Round Five. Skeet Ulrich, who played Loomis in the first film, is back in New Scream (H/T),

Loomis was behind the original set of murders, along with his partner Stu Macher (Matthew Lillard). The two plan to frame Sidney’s father for the murders, and it is revealed that he was also behind the death of Sydney’s mother, as he was having an affair with Billy’s mother. They try to execute their grand plan at the Macher’s house – also the setting for the 2022 Scream finale – but both are killed.

Then how is Loomis back in Scream? He doesn’t miraculously survive being shot in the head by Sidney—instead, he appears as a recurring hallucination suffered by his daughter Sam, thanks to some CGI wizardry, just before killing her as he did. . In the dramatic, bloody finale, he also helps Sam defeat one of the killers.
