Resolution is what really sets Reverb apart, but its designation as a Windows Mixed Reality headset can be a drag at times. My friend has a Reverb and we’ve played a lot of VR games with me on the Oculus Quest 2, but we’ll occasionally run into a game that, for whatever reason, doesn’t work on his headset.

One of our favorite VR headsets is down during Black Friday at its lowest price in months. The Reverb G2 doesn’t check every box for the right VR headset, but it’s one of the cheapest ways to grab a quality 4K headset that successfully bypasses the dreaded “screen door effect” that most headsets suffer from. Their trouble usually lies with the lack of support for the Windows Mixed Reality platform (especially for older games that no longer see many updates), so keep that in mind if you’re eyeing those flashy Oculus Quest 2 Black Fridays as well. There have been deals. That said, the brief amount of time I spent using Reverb made it really hard to go back to the Quest 2’s grainy screen.

Another caveat for those used to Quest 2’s uncanny freedom is Reverb’s obligatory cable, but rest assured the one that comes out is long enough for your playing space.
