Hitman 3 will get VR support on PC on January 20th, developer IO Interactive has revealed as part of Hitman 3 Year 2.

That means Hitman 3 will be updated for virtual reality, complete with support for “the most popular hardware,” though the devs didn’t say which VR headsets would be good to go — but promised that the full The list will be published before the launch (within next week).

As you can see in the teaser trailer below from Twitter, full hand tracking means you’ll be able to wave your hands (in the air like you don’t care, maybe), and actually move objects around. You can throw it there.

VR support is only coming to Hitman 3, but those who imported Hitman 1 and 2 levels into the game will also be able to experience them in virtual reality.

In its second year, Hitman 3 is also getting a new ‘Elusive Target Arcade’ game mode, with ray tracing support coming later in 2022 (Reflections and Shadows). In addition, Intel XeSS (Team Blue’s DLSS rival) will also be supported for Arc Alchemist graphics cards (which we expect to see launch in the near future).

Analysis: Seriously raising the immersion stakes – with the next PSVR 2?

Previously, Hitman 3 was only on PlayStation with VR, but moving to the PC platform really opens things up. While Sony’s console players had to use the DualShock 4 controller, there’s the added dimension of hand tracking to bring games on PC really — and the feeling of immersion — alive. Including adopting the karate stance that Dev mentions in his blog post.

Still, console gamers can probably look at something else as well – the possibility (for PS5) of Hitman 3 getting an update for PSVR 2 to follow the path taken on PC and implement hand tracking. As we mentioned in our list of expected (and confirmed) PSVR 2 games, releasing a PSVR 2 version of Hitman 3 makes sense, and there’s certainly demand as we can see in the replies to the teaser above on Twitter. Huh.
