Recently, I faced a dilemma: My according to google, Phone After that October. I wanted a new phone, pronoun.was on his last legs. Its battery was a pale shadow of its former self. Its USB-C port failed to charge for half the time. There were screens and glass backs on both sides of the phone Papad. And
i know newShould be next to Google (here are ) However, it would be too long for me to wait. At first glance my options seemed straightforward. Long ago, I threw myself into a lot with Google’s pure Android platform back in the days . Since then I’ve moved on to the original And this . so thought like new was funny. and a. idea of using was equally foreign.
I had plans to go with a new Pixel – the problem was which one to choose. scoring aThere is a way to go. but there is also And . NS And There are interesting options as well. Confused yet? I don’t blame you. Eventually, I settled on the perfect pixel for myself. If you’re like me and you need a Google handset right now, read on. The phone I chose (and why I chose it) matters to you too.
straight android, no chaser
When I went pure Android, the way Google intended, I could never go back. Duplicate apps and tons of non-removable carrier bloatware are a distant memory. Pixel phones also get first Android OS and Security Updates. This usually doesn’t happen with Samsung or OnePlus devices. And the fact that I’m a Google Fi cellular subscriber often limits my phone replacement options. All that a pixel, any pixel, gets to my chosen path.
Option 1: Pixel 3, 3 XL
Google no longer officially sells the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL. That said, you can find both models on Amazon. However to replace my current Pixel 3 XL (128GB), me $470. have to pay. That’s a lot to pay for the older processor (Snapdragon 845) and 4GB of RAM. More importantly, Google will soon be rolling out guaranteed software updates. So this phone is not worth it no matter how much the price drops.
Option 2: Pixel 4a
The Pixel 4A comes with Snapdragon 730G, which is a better processor than the 3 XL. You also get 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and the promised software update from Google until August 2023. not a bad thing $349. For – It’s a compelling choice. Still, I could have done better.
Option 3: Pixel 5
The last Google-branded Android phone it represents (at least for now) is the Pixel 5. It is powered by a respectably muscular Snapdragon 765G processor paired with a strong 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Google will also keep the device’s software fresh until October 2023. Other welcome features include wireless and reverse wireless charging, as well as IP68 water and dust protection. The Pixel 5 also links to 5G cellular networks.
But even at $ 699, this phone is expensive. NSalso, and this is . Paying top dollar for last year’s model now isn’t a smart move. But I think it’s better to be frugal and possibly splurge once Google releases the full Pixel 6 details. Depending on how much it costs and what it can do, you may decide to pass it on or snap one up.
Option 4: Pixel 4a 5G
This is the phone that I ultimately chose as it is a perfect compromise of price, performance and capacity. At least that’s what I thought when I ordered my Pixel 4A 5G in June. $549. With the recent launch of, all bets are off. My advice now is to pick up that handset (more on that later).
Still, at the time I was able to snag one for $500 via Google Fi. Immediately,. It’s out of stock at the moment but may be back soon.
With the same Snapdragon 765G processor as the Pixel 5, 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, the Pixel 4A 5G also packs a punch. It supports 5G wireless and has a bigger battery than the classic Pixel 4A.
Google expects to provide the Pixel 4A 5G software update by November 2023 (oddly, a month longer than the Pixel 5). All of this makes this phone the obvious choice for me – as of earlier this week. If I had to choose today, I’d get the Pixel 5A 5G without any hesitation. Certainly, after the launch of Pixel 6, I am likely to experience sour grapes.
Option 5: Pixel 5a
What a difference in a few months. Now that Google has unveiled $449. FeatherOf course, this new phone is essentially $50 less than the Pixel 4A 5G. Still, like the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A 5G, the 5A comes with a beefier Snapdragon 765G processor. Similarly, it is equipped with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. You also get a 5G cellular comparison with the Pixel 5A.My calculus has shifted, big time. cost
What really sets the Pixel 5A apart, at least for now, is its 4,680-mAh battery and 6.34-inch display (2,400×1,080-pixel resolution). Both the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4A are bigger than what 5G has to offer. Better yet, Google plans to supply the phone with software updates by August 2024. All that makes the Pixel 5A the best Pixel deal currently.
